Sustainability
Building a more responsible energy business.
We work in industries with a real environmental footprint, and we would rather be specific about what we are doing than general about what we believe. Sustainability here means measurable operating decisions — in efficiency, in emissions, in waste, and in the products we recommend.
Our approach
Efficiency is the honest starting point.
The largest environmental gain available to a supplier of industrial commodities is not a statement of intent. It is fuel not burned, product not wasted, and freight not moved further than it needs to be.
That shapes concrete recommendations. We advise emulsions over solvent cutbacks where the application allows, because they remove hydrocarbon vapour release and cut application energy sharply. We recommend meltable polybag packing over steel drums where a melter exists, because it eliminates a steel waste stream entirely and raises net product per container. We size shipments to the buyer's actual offtake rather than the parcel that suits us, because warehoused product that degrades is waste with extra steps.
Where a buyer's combustion system is running inefficiently, we say so. A furnace oil customer trimming excess air and recovering flue gas heat will typically cut consumption by five to fifteen per cent — which reduces their emissions and their invoice from us at the same time. We consider that the right trade.
Efficiency first · energy not burned
Waste Reduction
Packing chosen to minimise the waste stream at destination — meltable polybags, bulk and returnable tanks over single-use steel.
Combustion Efficiency
Handling and burner guidance supplied with every fuel contract, because badly burned fuel is wasted fuel.
Logistics Optimisation
Routing and parcel sizing set by the buyer's real offtake rather than by shipping convenience.
Lower-Impact Products
Emulsions over cutbacks, low-sulphur grades where permitted, and recycled-content asphalt supported.
Where it applies
Practical commitments, product by product.
Sustainability claims mean little in the abstract. Here is what they actually change about what we recommend and how we supply.
Bitumen
We support recycled asphalt pavement in mix design and supply the softer grades and rejuvenating binders that make higher RAP percentages workable. Reclaimed pavement reheated and reused is the single largest recycling stream in construction.
Emulsions over cutbacks
Where an application permits an emulsion, we recommend it. No flammable solvent, no hydrocarbon vapour release, and a fraction of the application energy of hot binder — with equivalent performance in most maintenance work.
Marine fuel
We supply VLSFO and ULSFO at certified sulphur levels with the documentation port state control requires, and we are candid with owners about where scrubber-equipped HSFO or compliant fuel is the better economic and environmental choice for their trade.
Fertilizers
Nutrient efficiency matters more than tonnage. We advise on placement, timing and volatilisation control, because fertilizer lost to the air or to leaching is both an environmental cost and money the grower has already spent.
Sulphur
Every tonne we trade is recovered sulphur — a by-product of cleaning sulphur out of fuels to meet emissions specifications. Finding productive use for it is the whole point of recovering it.
Packing
We default to the packing with the lowest waste footprint the destination can handle, and we will tell you when a cheaper packing on paper is more expensive once disposal is counted.
Our principles
Three commitments we hold ourselves to.
Environmental Care
Responsible handling, storage and transport practices across every product we move, with containment and spill control treated as an operating requirement rather than a compliance formality.
Operational Efficiency
Continuous reduction in energy consumed per tonne delivered — through packing choice, routing, parcel sizing and the technical advice we give buyers about their own systems.
Long-Term Growth
Expansion into products and markets we can serve reliably for years, rather than volume taken today that we cannot repeat tomorrow.
